🚨 Emergency Procedures

Emergency procedures are in place to insure the safety of the students during various emergency situations: fire, bomb threat, intruder, earthquake, etc. We have emergency procedures in place and practice regular dills with the staff and students.

Education Law §807 requires that New York State public and nonpublic schools conduct four lockdown and eight evacuation drills each school year (September 1 - June 30), with at least eight of the required drills being conducted by December 31 of each school year.

Evacuation and lockdown drills are conducted throughout the school year to practice the response of all personnel in as quick, quiet and safe manner as possible. Each staff member prepares for these drills by reviewing the emergency procedures and discussing the procedures with their students.

It is imperative that the school have current, complete emergency contact information for each student. The emergency contact form includes a list of people authorized to pick up your child in the even of an emergency. Please immediately notify the school when changes of address, phone number, or contact status occur.

An evacuation is used to evacuate students and staff, for their protection, from a school building to a predetermined location in response to an emergency.
A lockdown is used to secure school buildings and grounds during incidents that pose an immediate threat of violence in or around the school. A lockdown announcement is made and all staff and students seek immediate cover in a locked room. All school activities cease and 911 is called. All staff and students remain in lockdown until released by the police.
A lockout is used to secure school buildings and grounds during incidents that pose an imminent concern outside of the school.
A hold-in-place is used to limit movement of students and staff while dealing with short term emergencies.
A shelter-in-place is used to shelter students and staff inside the building.
