WEBER TECH ED:
Students at Weber Middle School take Technology Education for one Semester in both 6th and 8th grades.
Students will take each of the four classes for one Term, which is half a quarter.
6TH GRADE
Scratch, Mr. Miscioscia: Students will learn about coding and programming with Scratch.
Bridge Design, Mr. Czachor: Students build scale-model Truss Beam wooden bridges. When completed, each bridge is tested to find the highest strength-to-weight ratio.
Video Production, Mr. Stepanek: Students write scripts, record and edit videos.
Engineering Design, Mr. Shampanier: Students learn how to design as an engineer, using the Vinyl Cutting and 3D Printer creating their own designs.
8TH GRADE
Architecture, Mr. Miscioscia: Students design a single-family home, progressing from initial sketches to a fully developed digital model. Topics include floor plans, interior and exterior design, kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, and landscaping.
Robotics, Mr. Stepanek: Students learn to code and control robots, working both autonomously and with a controller. The unit ends in a competition where student robots perform specific tasks to demonstrate their skills.
Mass Production Plaques, Mr. Czachor: Students create custom designs using web-based editing tools, then engrave them onto wood plaques with a laser cutter. Parts are mass-produced using various tools in the woodshop.
Air-Powered Cars, Mr. Shampanier: Students design, build, and race air-powered cars, applying lessons on aerodynamics, woodshop techniques, 3D printing, and painting. The unit concludes with a final race to test their creations.
