Daily Rubric for PE Class & THE 3 R'S OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The aim of every Physical Education class is for students to achieve the following:
KNOW - what they have learned--------content and knowledge
VALUE - through cooperation, respect, responsibility and resourcefulness as they participate------the 3 R's of physical education/personal and social responsibility--------------and
DO - perform specific activities and learn new skills --to be able to apply them in an authentic situation whether it is in a small court volleyball game or a climbing activity ----------fitness and skill aquisition.
These expectations directly align with the NYS Learning Standards for Physical Education.

Student participation in class is assessed daily using the following rubric. **

RESPECT-RESPONSIBILITY-COOPERATION
4- respects others, cooperates, can do things on own, cares for others, helps and encourages others, uses positive ways of communicating, speaks kindly to others in class, at all times.
3- respectful and cooperative during all tasks, needs direction sometimes.
2- Shows respect inconsistently, often needs teacher direction to cooperate in class and with others, may require a time out in order to get back on task.
1- Can not demonstrate self control, is asked to sit out repeatedly for a period of time before returning to class activities
0- Must sit out the entire class because behavior is unacceptable.
Students who are unprepared for class can not participate also receive a 0 grade for the day.
**Dependent upon the unit of instruction students may be assessed on a skill rubric, online quiz, or group task.
